Board functions

The QBBC Board functions are defined in the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991.

Board functions

  1. deciding the strategies and the operational, administrative and financial policies to be followed by the commission;
  2. ensuring the commission performs its functions and exercises its powers in a proper, effective and efficient way;
  3. providing guidance and leadership to the commissioner;
  4. providing guidance and leadership to the Service Trades Council, other than in relation to its function of conferring on national policy development and implementation for the plumbing and drainage trade under the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018;
  5. advising the Minister on issues affecting—
    1. the building industry; and
    2. consumers; and
    3. the administration of this Act; and
    4. the administration of the commission;
  6. advising the Minister about unfair or unconscionable trading practices affecting security of payments to contractors and subcontractors;
  7. consulting the building industry and its consumers and advancing their interests, consistently with the objects of this Act.
