Hydrogen industry regulatory reform consultation

Consultation has concluded

Help shape Queensland’s hydrogen industry

We’re seeking feedback from the hydrogen sector and the broader community on the next stage of regulatory reforms that may be needed to support the development of Queensland’s hydrogen industry.

This review delivers on our commitment in the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan to review Queensland’s regulatory framework to support the effective regulation of hydrogen development. It will ensure our growing hydrogen industry develops safely and sustainably.

It follows an important industry milestone: the passing of the Gas Supply and Other Legislation (Hydrogen Industry Development) Amendment Act 2023 in Queensland Parliament on 10 October 2023. This legislation provides clear approval pathways for transporting hydrogen in pipelines.
